Whales and dolphins pass quite close to the lighthouse headland. Beaches and views surrounding the Smoky Cape lighthouse are without doubt some of the finest to be found anywhere in Australia.

Trial Bay Gaol (1886), 10 mins from Smoky Cape is the location of a historic gaol. The only example of a state prison specifically constructed to carry out a public work. Conducted tours are available.
